The woman behind the cake
Every Searle Jones cake begins with an idea — but behind every idea is a person who cares deeply about how it is brought to life.
I’m Helen Searle Jones, an award-winning bespoke wedding cake designer based in North Wales, creating luxury wedding cakes for couples across Cheshire, North Wales and the North West.
For me, cake design sits somewhere between art, architecture and craftsmanship. I’m fascinated by detail, proportion, texture and the way different elements come together to create something that feels completely right.
But the most important part is always the couple… Your story, your style, your venue and the atmosphere you want to create all become part of the design. I don’t believe in creating cakes that simply follow a trend. I want to create something that feels as though it could belong to no one else.
From sketch to celebration
The creative process is one of my favourite parts of what I do.
An idea might begin with a sketch, a piece of fabric, the architecture of a venue, a favourite flower or a detail from your stationery. From there, I begin exploring how those influences can become something three-dimensional, tactile and completely edible.
I personally design and handcraft every Searle Jones wedding cake, from the first sketch through to the final finishing touches.
Some designs are delicate and understated. Others are bold, sculptural and designed to make a statement.
Whatever the style, the approach remains the same: thoughtful design, meticulous craftsmanship and an uncompromising attention to detail.
Award-winning cake design
My work has been recognised through awards including Best Cake Company at the North Wales Wedding Awards 2025, as well as Gold and Bronze awards at Cake International.
While the awards are a wonderful recognition of the craft, the moments that matter most are the ones that happen when a couple sees their finished cake for the first time.
That is what makes this work so special.

As your luxury wedding cake designer, my role is to take everything that makes your wedding yours and translate it into a piece of edible art that feels considered, distinctive and beautifully made.
